My New Workout Plan

I told you that I was gonna let you know my new workout plan yesterday. You should know that I am just doing what is fun for me. I had gone back to 30 Day Shred but my knees started bugging again so I stopped. My requirements were that I wanted @ 30 minutes of cardio. After doing the cardio for a few days I decided to add in the butt, leg and ab workouts.

All of these workouts can be found OnDemand with Comcast. They are from Exercise TV so you might be able to find them on line.

My cardio is actually 2 workouts. The first is The Firm: Cardio Dance Fusion. I love to dance and nothing makes my workout go faster than just dancing my ass off. This is a small clip of the workout I found on You Tube:

After that I do another short dance workout. It is a little stripper-ish....haha! I do like it though because it keeps my heart rate up and works my legs and abs pretty good. I bring out "Mona" my alter ego and let myself get into it.

Next, I do legs. Again, this is from OnDemand. It is short and sweet but it burns.

The butt workout is also short but burns. I have up'd my workout to 3 sets of 10.
I can't get the video to load but you can find it here.

At that point in my workout I am about 40 min. in. I just have abs to go! I actually just do the abs from 30 Day Shred. People have complained about the abs not being enough but when you do them all together it is about 90 crunches and it hurts!!! I throw in an extra 10 at the end to reach 100 and then collapse on my mat.

What are you doing for a workout and how are you staying motivated?

I Can't Believe I Am Doing This!

After nearly a month of no posting, I am back on track! I really hit the skids after Vegas but for the past 2 weeks I have been back on the workout bandwagon. I am loving it. I plan to tell you my new program tomorrow but for now....photos.

I decided to take photos showing my middle section because I am stepping up the abs. I hate that I still look a tad pregnant even though I have lost nearly 40 lbs. The only explanation is not enough ab work. I have added 100 crunches a day to my workout and am hoping that helps. Here are some before photos. I have only been doing this for 3 days and I guess I will take more photos in like 2 weeks? One week? Not sure!

Must say, I do wish that I had taken photos like this when I first started. I took photos but I had lots of clothes on. Being half naked might have shown my progress even more. Without further ado...

The body....like how white my stomach is compared to the rest of me?
These are a bit close but maybe we will be able to better tell progress!!!
Holy shit the butt! I have also added in leg and butt work so I figured I should add these.

Sorry!!!

Man, it has been awhile! I am sorry that I have bailed on my blog. Things have been VERY crazy in my life right now. My marriage has hit a VERY rocky path and with it so has everything else. I have not been working out or watching my food intake much at all. Good thing is that I have actually managed to lose some weight still!

I am down to 208 and I can feel the 100's!!!! 9 more pounds and that 2 will change to a 1 and I will CELEBRATE!!!!! I took a few photos to update and I am really feeling proud. Today on my run/walk I even got some cat calls! That made my day! OH! Also, the mom from Ashley's school that asked me if I was pregnant 8 or so months ago finally told said, "You are lookin hot mama!" I was so happy because she has said NOTHING about my weight loss.

As for my running....it has been slow going. My left knee really bugs when I run. Yesterday I did a 5K and walked the whole thing. I finished in 41 minutes. That means that I only tacked like 5 min. or so onto my overall time! I am a really fast walker and, obviously, a slow runner! I think I will keep up the walking because it doesn't hurt my knee so badly.

I also found out that I should have recalculated my WW points. I dropped 3 points!!!! That is a lot but it could explain why my weight loss has been so slow. I am looking forward to seeing what happens.

Here are my newest photos! I hope to be updating more now.

My Running Playlist

I already admitted that I am running with music. It is really helpful when I am by myself. It makes the time go more quickly and it also helps me keep pace. There are tons of websites out there that have lists of good running music. Some list by beats per minute (BPM) and others just list songs people love running to. Here are a few links:
Running Music Mix--lists by BPM
Top Picks in Music for Runners--lists by genre
Running Songs--Top 40 songs
Just Google "running music" or "running playlists" and you will find tons!

Here is my current run list. I start it out a little slower and then near the middle I tried to add music that I love currently to help push me.

Mr. Brightside--The Killers
Love Lockdown--Kanye West
Come on Eileen--Dexy's Midnight Runners
I Kissed a Girl--Katy Perry
Just Dance--Lady Gaga
Hey Ya!--Outcast
SexyBack--Justin Timberlake
Are You Gonna Be My Girl--Jet
Push It--Salt N Pepa
One Way or Another--Blondie

This mix is just under 40 min. so it gives me more than enough music for 5K.

210 Baby!!!!!!

I am now down 32 lbs. Next week I hope to be in the 2-zero's and I am sure I will cry when I get there. This really hasn't been as tough as I thought it would be but I am determined and I have some great support.

Get this....I am running again! For those who don't know, before I had my daughter I ran a couple of marathons. That is 26.2 miles for those who don't know. I HATE running. Loathe it!!! So when the shredheads group said they were going to train for a 5K I right away thought no way! Then I changed my mind.

When I was running with Team in Training I always ran 6 minutes and then walked 2. I did that for the whole marathon. Everytime I ran, period. It worked for me and I had a great group to run with. This time I am running by myself. Today was my first run.

First off, I ran with music which TNT teaches you is really unsafe. You can't hear things around you, etc. I decided that if I was running by myself and had to have music. Most shreadheads are following either this program or this one. I decided for my first run I was just going to see how far I could run.

I turned on my music and started off. Before starting I thought might make it to the end of the street before dying. I didn't. I kept running. On and on and on. I couldn't believe it!!! My lungs felt great. I felt great! I ran for 2 miles!!!!! 2 miles!!!! I have NEVER run 2 miles without walking some, NEVER. At the end of 2 miles I decided to walk not because my lungs hurt but my head was pounding. My heart rate monitor showed that I was at 98%. I know that if I work out too long at 90% or above I have a headache the rest of the day. Nothing helps make the headache go away so I decided to back off.

I ran for 23:56 minutes. I think next time I will try and run for 26 minutes and then just keep tacking on time. I have 6 weeks to train for the 5K so I think I should be GREAT by race time. I am beaming because I feel so great. My body hurts like a mother but I am proud!

I have taken some new photos too. I think you can tell a difference. Same pants, fresh outta the wash. They are looser on me for sure. My butt is smaller, I can tell. I think I am doing great!

Progress

I am out of town in Palm Springs right now enjoying life but trying desperately to not gain weight! I put on a shirt and jeans to go to dinner tonight and I have to say, I looked HOT!

I am down 30 pounds. There are days when I don't think I look that much better but I have learned it is all about the clothes. These jeans look great on me. They hug my curves in just the right spots. I love that about them! I took a photo and it will have to hold you over until I return. I will tell you that I brought my yoga DVD with me. I am golfing several times and the resort we are staying at offers group exercise glasses that I am going to do. I am trying really hard to not put weight back on however I know that I will probably gain a few. Here are my photos....

Yoga vs. 30 Day Shred

Suddenly, I am so over Jillian Michael's. OK, not really but I am just tired of seeing her mug up on my TV. I needed a change. I already told you that I cheated on Jillian with Bob's Cardio Max and loved it. I had heard a lot about Bob's Weight Loss Yoga, so I decided to give it a try.

Here is the thing with yoga....I like it but I never feel like I get as good of a workout. I have done Bikram Yoga which I love because you pour sweat. It could be, of course, that the room is over 100 degrees but whatever. I guess that I correlate a good workout to lots of sweat.

Let me tell you, Bob doesn't disappoint.

The cool thing about this DVD is that you can choose your workout. You can select warm-up, Level 1 and cool down or you can also add in Level 2 and Level 3. However you chose to do it is up to you!

The first day, I did Level 1 plus the warm-up/cool down. It was hard! My body was shaking which I know means that I am getting workout. I was dripping sweat. I loved it! My abs felt like they really good a good workout which 30 Day Shred is really missing. I should mention that I LOVE Bob so workout with him is fun. He is lighthearted and very easy on the eyes! The whole workout was about 30 minutes which I also love.

Yesterday I added Level 2 which is HEAVY on the abs. I also really like it! My problem is that when I am done my calories burned is not as much as when I do heavy cardio. I am not sure what to think about that since my muscles are sore and I know that I am getting a good workout in.

Today I added Level 3 because I really wanted to burn a lot of calories. Again, dripping with sweat. I really struggled through a lot of the workout because I was really trying to go deep into the poses and hold them. Level 3 is with weights and while I started without them I ended up using them for most of that 10 min. portion. I was dead by the end. I am still sore but it is a great sore.

At the end of the 50 minute workout I burned 423 calories. I can usually burn that in 30 min. of Cardio Max and that stripper workout thing (hee hee). I am going to try and look past the whole calorie thing and keep at it. I am as sore as if I did 30 Day Shred which is good!

I must also add that I got a look at my butt today in the mirror and it is lookin' good if I do say so myself!!! I have been at a bit of a stand still with my weight loss but I think I am not eating enough! I am really uping my water intake and trying to really keep track of everything I eat so I know that I am fueling my body enough. I plan to do measurements tomorrow!
